As a local business, we are aware of the hardships faced by so many during this holiday season and are grateful to any organization providing assistance to those in need.  Food pantries, soup kitchens and other groups supplying food are especially vulnerable to economic impact as the jobless seek assistance feeding their families.  In addition, as is typical during an economic downturn, donations have slowed because many are reluctant to part with funds.

For these reasons, we feel it necessary to do what we can to help support these organizations with a holiday initiative.  Last year, we did away with holiday cards and instead made a donation to a local charity.  This year, we have expanded the program to include the funds budgeted for holiday gifts.  We have also asked our vendors to share in this endeavor; requesting that they make a donation to a charity of their choice in lieu of a holiday remembrance.

This year a donation was made in honor of our customers to the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean counties. This much needed donation will help provide food to a network of 270 pantries, soup kitchen and others served by the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean counties as well as help with emergency food, skills training, outreach programs and advocacy for families in need.  Nearly 70,000 people benefit from FoodBank programs each year.   Please visit http://www.foodbankmoc.org/  to read about the programs offered by the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

We are greatly encouraged by others who have informed us that they will mirror this gesture and hope that together we can make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.

We wish you all a happy holiday season and healthy and peaceful New Year.
