Paterson Habitat Women Build Project Underway
Paterson Habitat for Humanity is now conducting its third Women Build project. Women from all over the tri-state area will join forces to finance, design and build a Habitat home and help a family begin a new life in a decent, affordable home. Lowe’s, the national corporate sponsor for this event, held building skills classes over the winter for many Women Build volunteers at the new Lowe’s store on Route 20 in Paterson.
Singer-songwriter, Patti Scialfa came out to lend a hand along with her mother, Patricia, mother-in-law, Adele and daughter, Jessica. The foursome, along with other Women Build volunteers raised the first wall of the home’s living room.
The site at 60 North 1st Street will soon contain the first home of Jean Claude Douge, his wife and 5 year old son. They are now living in a tiny apartment where the whole family sleeps in one room. The family waited three years to qualify for the home and received a no-interest loan to pay for it. They also contributed 500 hours to help build another Habitat home.
Mr. John is so proud to be a part of this and all other Habitat projects, providing portable restrooms free of charge for all Habitat job sites!
