Mr. John wins Hero for Affordable Housing Award

Mr. John was recently honored at an awards ceremony to celebrate the 2009 Heroes for Affordable Housing.  The awards were given by United Way of Morris County's Housing Alliance to recognize individuals or organizations that help to further the cause of providing affordable housing in the community.

Mr. John was nominated for the award by the Morris Habitat for Humanity, a member of the Housing Alliance and grateful recipient of Mr. John temporary restroom donations.  Mr. John has been an avid supporter of Habitat for Humanity for many years, donating portable restrooms to all local Habitat building sites.

Said Cindy Flanagan of the Morris Habitat for Humanity, "as a champion of affordable housing, we feel it is important to recognize people and organizations that step up and make it easier for us to fulfill our mission by lending a hand to our cause.  Mr. John has been a tremendous contributor to Morris Habitat for Humanity's affordable housing construction efforts through thousands of dollars in in-kind contributions through the donation of porta johns, and we are so grateful for your support."

Gary Weiner, President of Mr. John, accepted the award on behalf of the organization.  He thanked the Morris Habitat and Housing Alliance for the recognition and pledged to continue supporting the good work of local Habitat chapters to further the cause of affordable housing.

Other winners of the 2009 Heroes for Affordable Housing awards were:

  • Barbara W. Valk, Madison Affordable Housing Corporation, Madison

  • Monsignor Patrick Brown, Lounsberry Meadow, Stirling
